Syllabus: The discipline describes methods of cultivation/planting of halophytes (phanerogams tolerant to high salt concentrations), native to marshes and mangroves, used for the production of biomass and bioproducts, the management of dredging, in recovery of degraded areas, for mitigation of coastal erosion, interception of suspended material, storage/degradation of various runoff water contaminants/industrial effluents and aquaculture in the coastal zone.
