Graduated in Oceanology from the Federal University of Rio Grande Foundation (1983), master's degree in Biological Oceanography from the Federal University of Rio Grande Foundation (1987) and PhD in Biological Sciences - University of East Anglia (1992).
Full professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). He has experience in the areas of Oceanography and Marine Aquaculture, acting mainly on the following themes: phytoremediation of coastal environments, aquaponics in Marine Aquaculture, saltwater agriculture and, nutritional and pharmacological applications of halophytes.
